After not racing at Eldora Speedway last year, New York dirt track racer J.R. Heffner is the first dirt ringer to confirm his entry into this year’s running of the newly named Aspen Dental Eldora Dirt Derby.
Heffner will partner with Tommy Joe Martins and Martins Motorsports to run the No. 44 A Colarusso & Sons and Park East Sales Chevrolet Silverado during next week’s Wednesday night event. The race will mark his second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series appearance at Eldora, and third race in the series.
In addition to competing in the Truck race, Heffner will compete in the Super Dirt Car Big Block Modified taking place on the same day.
“We are very pleased to announce our return to Eldora Speedway in 2016,” Heffner said. “It’s always been a very special race for us. Our team has always looked for a challenge in motorsports, to be able to compete against the best dirt racers in the country on the fastest tracks in the Northeast tests us every week. To also go out to Ohio and race against the best NASCAR truck drivers and the drivers of the Super Dirt Series is a huge challenge, but one I feel we are ready for.”
Heffner last competed in the Truck race at Eldora in 2014 where he finished 18th after starting 16th.
