At the end of qualifying for the Nationwide Series VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero 200, it was Kyle Busch picking up his 37th career pole. Busch lapped the egg-shaped track in 28.314 seconds at an average speed of 173.681 mph. Busch has won at Darlington before in both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series.
Texas race winner Chase Elliott qualified second for his fourth top 10 in 2014 in his first start at Darlington Raceway. Elliott comes into the weekend leading the point over teammate Regan Smith.
Matt Kenseth qualified third, followed by Kevin Harvick and Ty Dillon. Rookie Chris Buescher qualified sixth, followed by Brian Scott, Regan Smith, Elliott Sadler, Trevor Bayne and Cale Conley.
Kyle Larson qualified 12th, though will start at the rear of the field after having to make repairs to his car following qualifying.
