Sergio Pena just a few seasons ago was abandoned without a ride following a decision to depart Rev Racing in the K&N West/East Pro Series for a better opportunity. Now, he’s returned to his ‘home’ at Rev Racing hoping for successful finishes.
“It was a ride that looked to go, I couldn’t turn it down,” Pena described to On Pit Road about the situation a few years back when him and Rev Racing parted ways, momentarily. “So, I took that ride, but now I’m back with Rev Racing, so everything worked out. I’m really thankful that the NASCAR Diversity program and Rev Racing are allowing me to come back.”
However, Pena will still have to re-adjust to the new personnel, but after the transition has fully competed he’s expecting to shock some folks.
“We’ve got a whole new group of guys now,” Pena explained about returning to the organization. “But hopefully, we can get some top-fives and eventually some victories this season.”
Pena, 21, wasn’t inducted to the 2014-2015 NASCAR NEXT class this season, yet, he’s still preparing for the future, hoping to begin his tenure in a NASCAR Touring Series.
“I’m working hard on getting some (NASCR Camping World) Truck Series and (NASCAR) Nationwide Series stuff going,” Pena noted about future expectations. “But, for this season, I’m looking to build a relationship with my crew and also rack up some wins.”
Pena will be seeking his fourth career triumph in the K&N East Series this season which will help solidify his quest towards the ultimate goal: running full-time in the NASCAR Touring Series, and with the attitude and composure he posses, it appears he’ll achieve that goal within a few years.
