Dave Hodgkinson scores Outlaw Modified feature victory at Sunset Speedway

After holding off a late-race charge from Cliff Hodgkinson, Dave Hodgkinson drove to victory lane at the end of the 30-lap Outlaw Modified feature at Sunset Speedway.

The night didn’t start off smoothly as Billy Zardo would spin Lisa Hodgkinson on the opening lap, while Norris Wyat would make contact with the outside frontstretch wall and need a toe off. A.J. Emms also didn’t get the start to the night that he wanted, seeking pit road with mechanical issues. The issues also struck Zardo, as he would pull off the track on lap six. The spin cycle hit once again on the final lap as Chris Maxwell went for the spin by himself.

Cliff Hodgkinson picked up the win ahead of Dave Hodgkinson, Tom Houghton, Lisa Hodgkinson and Maxwell.

Come feature time, Dave Hodgkinson would jump out to the early lead ahead of Cliff Hodgkinson and Chris Maxwell while Lisa Hodgkinson and Emms battled for fourth. Emms would get the advantage on lap two, bringing Tom Houghton by with him to leave Lisa and Wyat trailing the field.

While Dave Hodgkinson worked at trying to distance himself from the field, Maxwell would catch Cliff Hodgkinson for second at lap 1, completing the pass at lap 13. Emms would try to follow suit, however wasn’t able to find a way by. Maxwell would hold down the second spot till lap 18, when Cliff Hodgkinson was able to pass him back.

Cliff Hodgkinson then ran down Dave Hodgkinson in the final laps of the 30 lap event, however wasn’t able to make the pass as Dave Hodgkinson got the win ahead of Cliff Hodgkinson, Chris Maxwell, Tom Houghton, A.J. Emms, Lisa Hodgkinson and Norris Wyat.
