This past weekend at Sunset Speedway, the Outlaw Modifieds would run a pair of events and in the end, it’d be A.J. Emms and Ton Houghton claiming the feature victories.
The weekend started off with Shannon Morris winning the first heat on Saturday night ahead of Houghton, Dave Hodgkinson, A.J. Emms, Shane McGlynn, Bill Zardo Sr. and Billy Innes. It marked Zardo’s first event with the modifieds in 2014, though the Canadian short track legend is not short of experience having ran a numerous amount of late model races over the years.
Come feature time, A.J. Emms would start third and was able to make his way up through, grabbing the victory ahead of Hodgkinson, Morris, Houghton, McGlynn and Innes.
Sunday didn’t start out how McGlynn would’ve hoped as motor issues would bring him down pit road before the start of the first heat. It went well for Dave Hodgkinson as he grabbed the win ahead of Emms, Morris, Houghton and Innes.
The feature brought forth a strong starting spot for Tom Houghton, which he used to his advantage en route to victory lane. Emms fought hard throughout the second half of the event to beat Hodgkinson for second, ahead of Morris and Innes.
Lisa Hodgkinson was in attendance, though suffered issues during practice that would take her out of contention.
