OSCAAR announced on Sunday February 1st that the Don Biederman Memorial will be ran at Flamboro Speedway on September 5th for the 2015 OSCAAR Super Late Model season.
“OSCAAR and the management of Flamboro Speedway are very excited to bring the memorial race back to the track that started it all,” OSCAAR President Dave Gainforth said. “Don spent many a Saturday night thrilling the fans at Flamboro, so to see the event back at Flamboro is very fitting.”
Don Biederman is a legend in Ontario short track racing, having won many races over the years. Inducted in the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2001, he is one of four Canadians to have won the Oxford 250. Biederman passed away in 1999 after a long battle with cancer.
The first memorial was ran in 2000 at Flamboro and since become a must win event for every super late model driver through the past 15 seasons. The race has also seen its fair share of tracks, with recent events being held at Kawartha Speedway, followed by Sunset Speedway the previous two seasons under a unique two-day format.
