CHARLOTTE, NC (February 3) – Jay Fogleman Racing will partner with Woodman Racing to field the #8 Ford entry for Tate Fogleman. The new team will chase both the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) National Championship and PASS South Super Late Model titles in 2015. Woodman Racing’s Dicky Woodman will maintain the machine out of his China Grove, NC shops and will serve as crew chief on race day for the third generation racer.
The new partnership will serve as a reunion of sorts between the two teams. In 2013, Jay Fogleman drove primarily for Woodman Racing en route to both the PASS National Championship and PASS South Super Late Model title.
“We’re really looking forward to it,” said Jay Fogleman. “It will take a lot of pressure off me while I pursue other business opportunities not having to maintain the cars in my shop. Dicky and my family have become great friends and I feel like this is the best way we can focus on Tate and continue to develop his racing career.”
Tate Fogleman is coming off one of the best seasons of his young career. In just his second season in a PASS South Super Late Model, Tate continued to show the promise he developed during a successful PASS Pro Late Model career. The younger Fogleman scored his best career finish, a strong third place effort at Southern National Motorsports Park in July, and finished third in the PASS National Championship standings. Woodman sees many of the same traits in Tate that took his father to victory lane so many times over the course of long his long career.
“They both know how to win, they both have good drive ability, but it’s hard to compare their styles because they come from such different racing backgrounds,” says Woodman. “We tested for the first time last weekend and I would take Tate anywhere right now. He was as good on lap 100 as he was on lap 4. It’s a little more than a racing deal, it’s more like family.”
The 2015 season will begin on Saturday, March 7 with the 10th Annual South Carolina Clash at Dillon Motor Speedway with rotating practice starting at Noon, followed by qualifying at 3:30 PM, and feature racing at 5 PM for the PASS South Super Late Models, PASS Pro Late Models, Chargers, and Legends. The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America’s premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the legendary Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway and PASS South’s Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway.
