Mooresville, NC (February 10, 2015) – Joining forces for the first time, TriStar Motorsports and Scott Lagasse Jr. ink a deal for the 2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 21st. Lagasse, of St. Augustine, Fla., will pilot the No. 19 Alert Today Florida Camry with veteran Crew Chief Paul Clapprood calling the shots.
The Florida Native will team up with the Florida Department of Transportation in their “Alert Today, AliveTomorrow” initiative for their second season together, with their last race being the NASCAR XFINITY Series season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The campaign helps raise awareness that safety doesn’t happen by accident, reminding everyone on the roadways to pay attention while following the rules of the road.
“I’m excited to have TriStar Motorsports and TeamSLR working together for the Alert Today Florida 300 at Daytona International Speedway,” said Lagasse. “I am looking forward to getting on the track and working with my Crew Chief Paul Clapprood and all of the guys at TriStar Motorsports. The ‘Alert Today, AliveTomorrow‘ campaign is to raise awareness for bicyclists, pedestrians and motorists. As an avid cyclist it’s an honor to be able to carry the ‘Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow‘ safety message. My goal is to get everyone to just take a couple extra seconds to think about the safety of others on the road.”
“TeamSLR has provided the perfect platform to reach a multitude of motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists with the ‘Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow‘ Campaign,” said FDOT Secretary Jim Boxold. “From walking children to school to racing in the Alert Today Florida 300, Scott Lagasse, Jr. is always focused on driving the safety message home. As an avid cyclist, he understands the challenges bicyclists often face. He sincerely cares about safety.”
Preparing for his seventh NASCAR XFINITY Series start at Daytona, Lagasse’s longtime partner, The Boy Scouts of America, will also be on the bright yellow and gray Toyota Camry for the thrilling 300-mile event.
“I am privileged to be representing the Boy Scouts of America as the Exclusive NASCAR driver. It’s exciting to have the support of Scouts from all over the country as we head into the 2015 season,” said Lagasse. “I am always looking forward to the many opportunities and experiences presented through the Scouting World.”
Be sure to tune into the Alert Today Florida 300 on FOX Sports 1, MRN and SIRIUS XM Channel 90 on February 21st at 3:30PM ET.
