Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano have crossed paths before, and all signs point to things having not improved between the pair. They would once again exhange words following the Sprint Unlimited.
In the closing laps of the event, Harvick had placed himself as the third car in-line on the outside, with Logano behind him. Logano, looking to continue to make up ground, gave Harvick a push as the field went into turns three and four. The resulting push, though, would send Harvick’s No. 4 Jimmy Johns Chevrolet up into the outside wall, cutting the right front tire.
“He just shoved me straight in the fence,” Harvick said on the radio. “I had a right front (tire) going down and now it’s flat. He just shoved me all the way in the corner.”
Logano was warned by his spotter Tab Boyd on the radio that Harvick was mad, in which Logano replied, “(Screw) him, I was trying to help him that mother (expletive).”
The result would be Harvick finishing 11th, while Logano finished sixth.
As the pair came onto pit road post-race, Harvick would swerve his car into Logano’s No. 22 Shell Pennzoil Ford. Logano then retailiated, turning Harvick sideways. Once they were parked, the pair got out of the car and exchanged words on pit road.
“Its Kevin being Kevin just like he is wherever else we go,” Logano commented. “Just trying to help to be honest. I was just trying to push. I was doing the same thing with the 78 (Martin Truex Jr.) and it was working. I was doing that for him and he got tight and slid up and got into the wall. I was just trying to do whatever I could do to win.”
“I told him that I didn’t appreciate it,” Harvick said. “You know where you can push and how you can push, and you can’t push all the way into the corner into the guys. Proud of these guys for putting a good car together, but just dumb driving there. You have to be aggressive, but you still have to use your head and not detach it and lay it on the floorboard.”
During the scuffle, Danica Patrick also jumped in and shared a couple of words for Logano. In response to her involvement, Logano commented, “I am confused. I don’t know what going on right now. I am really confused about everything.”
The pair crossed paths a couple years ago following an on-track incident, in which Logano commented that Harvick didn’t know what he was doing as “Delana wears the firesuit in the family”. Both drivers have found themselves at the ends of feuds over the years with other drivers, as well.
