Looking to make his third career Camping World Truck Series start, Austin Hill would lead the first practice session for the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway with a lap of 47.743 seconds. Hill made a pair of starts last season, finishing 26th at Martinsville Speedway and 20th at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Travis Kvapil would time in second quickest as Premium Motorsports looks to make their NCWTS debut this weekend. John Wes Townley was third quickest, followed by last year’s series champion Matt Crafton and Ty Dillon. Dillon is running a couple races this season for GMS Racing, along with the full XFINITY schedule for Richard Childress Racing.
Scott Lagasse Jr. was sixth quickest, followed by Daniel Hemric, Timothy Peters, James Buescher and Matt Tifft.
The NextEra Energy Resources 250 is scheduled for Friday night, with qualifying taking place on Friday at 4:45 pm EST.
