NXS: Joey Logano Leads Pair of Hisense 250 Practice Sessions at Atlanta

In a pair of Hisense 250 practice sessions at Atlanta Motor Speedway, it’d be Joey Logano topping the charts in both sessions.

The 2015 Daytona 500 winner would lead the first practice with a lap of 30.327 seconds as he makes his first start of the year behind the wheel of the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang. Ty Dillon was second quickest, 0.028 seconds behind, as he looks to capture the championship this year for Richard Childress Racing. Kevin Harvick was third in his first XFINITY start of the season for JR Motorsports, followed by Matt Kenseth and Erik Jones. Jones is driving the No. 54 Monster Energy Camry in place of Kyle Busch after Busch broke his leg in a crash last weekend at Daytona International Speedway.

Logano would then lead the final practice session with a lap of 30.444 seconds, ahead of Brendan Gaughan. Gaughan won two races last season and returns in hunt of the championship with Richard Childress Racing. Gaughan’s teammate Paul Menard was third quickest, followed by Daniel Saurez. Saurez is trying to put a disappointing Daytona Speedweeks behind him after getting involved in a pair of wrecks during XFINITY Speedweeks. Defending Series Champion Chase Elliott rounded out the top-five.

The Hisense 200 is scheduled to start at 2:20 p.m. EST on Saturday afternoon and will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1.
