(MARCH 9, 2015) Weeks after Tanner Berryhill was forced out of full-time NASCAR XFINITY Series competition due to a lack of sponsorship with his family-owned car, he is set to attempt his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut at Phoenix International Raceway with Premium Motorsports in the No. 66 Chevrolet SS. Started by Jay Robinson, Premium Motorsports has fielded cars in the top-three classes of NASCAR since 2000, and currently runs the No. 62 and 66 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as the No. 94 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Berryhill, 21, has 40 NASCAR XFINITY Series starts since his debut in the series in 2012. 2014 saw full-time competition for Berryhill as he competed in the 33-event schedule, finishing 22nd in points. Berryhill earned a career and team best finish for Vision Racing of 17th at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The Bixby, Oklahoma native will be the first driver from the state of Oklahoma to run in NASCAR’s premier series since 1981.
“I’m really excited about the opportunity Premium Motorsports has given me in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Phoenix. This is a big step in my career, and I plan on making the most of it when I hit the track this weekend,” said Berryhill.
