Doing it his way may be the best way to describe Shooter Jennings, who will play a pre-race concert at Kansas Speedway on May 9 before the SpongeBob SquarePants 400.
Jennings, who is the son of country music legends Waylon Jennings and Jessi Coulter, has been around music his entire life, and has been following his own path in the music world for almost as long. Releasing his first album in 2005 (Put the O Back in Country), he released his latest album, The Other Life (a live album) last year from label Black Country Rock (BCR). And recently, Jennings has been out on his “Don’t Wait Up (For Shooter) Tour” with the Waymore Outlaws, Waylon Jennings original recording and touring band.
“I’m looking forward to having Shooter Jennings join us for our May 9 night race and adding to the excitement of an already great race day,” said Kansas Speedway President Patrick Warren. “Shooter has a unique sound and I know our fans will enjoy his concert.”
In addition to being a musician, Jennings is also a producer, composer, BCR president and radio host.
Racing returns to Kansas Speedway this May and tickets for Kansas Speedway’s 2015 schedule, which includes the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (SpongeBob SquarePants 400) May 8-9, and the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, the NASCAR XFINITY Series (Kansas Lottery 300), and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (Hollywood Casino 400, the fifth race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup) Oct. 16-18, are currently on sale. Season tickets, which include a pre-race Track Pass that allows access to the infield for each Sprint Cup Series event, are also on sale now.
