As part of the Short Track Night of Champions at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Show, A.J. Emms was honored for his Outlaw Modified Championship.
Last season, the young driver had a solid season that featured seven victories in 12 races. He was also the winner of the U.S/ Canadian Showdown at Full Throttle Motor Speedway, sweeping the night winning all three Feature races. The unique body style of his Stryker chassis got the attention of many fans within Canada and the United States.
“We took that car down to Thompson and ran the World Series there,” Emms said. “We got a lot of looks from it because it’s defiantly different looking car.”
Emms will change his racing avenues for 2015, as it was announced back in December that he will partner with ADAMS Motorsports to run the full OSCAAR Modified schedule. Emms will be behind the wheel of the No. 99 Adams Home Comfort, Dwinnels Family Movers, TSS Top Shops, Orillia Trim and Door, Duckworths Fish and Chips Orillia, Klotz Canada, Wix Filters, Kitchen Tire 2013, Hastings Home Hardware and Morton Metals
“Really excited for the 2015 season,” Emms commented.
ADAMS Motorsports is entering their second year of OSCAAR competition after finishing 11th in points last year with Drew Stieler behind the wheel. With Emms and Adams partnered together, the pair are hoping to run up front against the series regulars, like champion Gary McLean.
“We’re doing a lot of work and doing our homework, and hopefully we can run with him,” Emms commented. “Gary McLean is a great modified driver and does his homework like he said. I kind of approach it with the same mentality he does and Allen and I are working in the same direction. Our goal is to run up there and run really well this year. We’re going to do whatever it takes.”
Emms also revealed at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Show that he has also partnered up with Mike Westwood Fabrication to run a Stryker Limited Late Model Chassis part-time at Sunset Speedway.
“I’ve been fortunate to drive for Mike for a number of years, and it’s been a great relationship and he’s taught me a lot,” Emms commented. “I’m really excited to move forward with Allen Adams, but at the same time, it’s still great to be associated with Mike.”
