After fainting during an autograph session at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday afternoon, Kyle Larson will miss the STP 500.
Larson was taken to Martinsville Hospital for evaluation “awake and alert” and everything checked out well, but was transferred to Carolina’s Memorial Hospital in Charlotte to be evaluated by a neurologist. Per Chip Ganassi Racing, everything came back negative and Larson felt fine. However, doctors believed he should be held for more testing today.
The 2014 Rookie of the Year is scheduled to start seventh in the STP 500, and currently sits 18th in points.
Regan Smith has been called upon to drive the No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS today. Smith filled in for Kurt Busch at Stewart-Haas Racing in the first three races this season, posting finishes of 16th, 17th and 16th. He is running the full XFINITY Series schedule for JR Motorsports.
