In the final stages of the St. Onge Recreation Super Stock feature, Cayden Lapcevich would out-duel Randy Rusnell to score the victory.
The night started off with a big wreck in the first heat as Dwight Bell would clip Brendan Adams, leaving Shawn Goggins nowhere to go. Rusnell grabbed the win ahead of Lane Zardo, Adam Martin, Tyler Liscum, Ryan Semple, Paul Allard, Mike Weeda, Coltin Everingham, Bell, Nick Tooley, Dustyn Mombourquette and Adams.
Matt Bentley won the second heat ahead of Lapcevich, Chris Howse, Johnny Morrison, Chris Howse, Joe Adams, Jade Franklin, Dan Archibald, Bryan Penny, Paul Maltese, Ric Watson and Candiss Everingham.
Come feature time, Adam Martin would start pole ahead of Luke Gignac, Jade Franklin, Johnny Morrison, Stan Coe, Dan Archibald, Randy Rusnell, Coltin Everingham, Tyler Liscum, Paul Allard, Mike Weeda, Matt Bentley, Chris Howse, Lane Zardo, Ryan Semple, Cayden Lapcevich, Dwight Bell and Bryan Penny.
Adam Martin would jump out to the early lead behind the wheel of the No. 97 Johnsonville, Candytree, Little Potato Company, SecureDrive, Stihl, GoTire, Micks Motorsports entry ahead of Gignac and Morrison as Franklin and Archibald battled for fourth. The caution would then come out, though, for Candiss Everingham going around.
The restart would result in the second caution as Franklin got loose, making contact with Archibald, which resulted in Archibald getting sideways on the frontstretch and almost hitting the inside wall. In the aftermath, Brendan Adams would hit Ryan Semple, while Shawn Goggins hit Ric Watson.
The second attempt would result in the third caution as Allard got loose, with Liscum, Archibald, Bell, Zardo and Everingham getting tangled up together in the aftermath. Following the first three cautions and only one lap on the board, Martin led Gignac, Morrison, Franklin, Coe, Rusnell, Bentley, Weeda, Howse, Lapcevich, Semple, Tooley, Mombourquette, Goggins, Archibald, Adams, Watson, Coltin Everingham, Candiss Everingham, Liscum, Allard, Penny, Zardo and Bell.
The third attempt would go much smoother with Martin jumping out to the early lead ahead of Gignac, Morrison and Rusnell as Franklin, Weeda and Lapcevich went three-wide. Rusnell would get by Morrison to move into third, challenging Gignac for second at lap seven while Lapcevich moved into fourth. Rusnell would get the spot, with Lapcevich following through to kick Gignac back to fourth. Morrison ran fifth ahead of Weeda, Semple and Bentley.
The leaders would get into lap traffic and that wouldn’t go smoothly as Semple would get into the lapped car of Mombourquette, sending Mombourquette for a spin. Semple would also be done for the night with a broken suspension part. Meanwhile, Weeda would pull off the track with a mechanical problem. With 17 laps to go, Martin led Rusnell, Lapcevich, Gignac, Morrison, Bentley, Coe, Howse, Franklin, Archibald, Adams, Goggins, Liscum, Coltin Everingham, Penny, Zardo, Allard, Morrison and Bell. Watson ran as the first car a lap down ahead of Candiss Everingham and Mombourquette.
On the restart, Randy Rusnell would put the No. 72 Marvin Freiburger, North Star Technical Incorporated, McCordick, HolmesAndMoney.ca, Brandt, Travis Industrial, Coldwell Banker, Partimer Signs, NCommInc., and Truck Trans Incorporated Monte Carlo in the lead while Martin and Lapcevich battled for second. Lapcevich would grab the second spot on lap 14 ahead of Martin, Bentley, Gignac and Morrison as Coe and Howse battled for seventh spot. Coe would get the spot, with Archibald looking to follow him through.
At the front of the field, Lapcevich would chase down Rusnell for the lead, getting alongside him as Martin held down third ahead of Bentley and Gignac. Martin would get real loose off of turn four, with Bentley grabbing the spot to take over third. Rusnell and Lapcevich would continue their battle till the fifth caution flew at lap 19 for Watson going around.
On the restart, Lapcevich would grab the lead behind the wheel of the No. 76 Tim Hortons, Cathcart, Springer’s and Troy Cove Marina Super Stock ahead of Rusnell, Bentley, Martin and Gignac as Coe and Morrison battled for sixth. Coe would grab the spot, taking sixth ahead of Morrison, Howse and Archibald. The back half of the top 10 would get messy as the laps wound down, with Morrison drilling the back of Howse with six laps to go. As a result, Howse would go around, leaving Franklin nowhere to go. Franklin would be done for the night with heavy front end damage; Howse would also bring his car down pit road, done for the night.
Lapcevich would get a good restart to retain the lead ahead of Rusnell, Bentley, Martin, Gignac, Morrison and Liscum as Zardo and Goggins ran side-by-side for eighth. Zardo would grab the spot with four laps to go ahead of Goggins, Coe and Penny. Coe would then look to make the pass on Goggins for ninth, completing it a lap later.
At the front of the field, Lapcevich looked set to claim the victory. As he went down the backstretch only a half a lap away from the checkered, though, the caution would fly for Coe trailing smoke.
Cayden Lapcevich would get a good final restart to claim his second victory of the season. Randy Rusnell finished second for his best finish of the year, followed by Matt Bentley with his second straight top-three. Adam Martin finished fourth for his first top-five of the season, followed by Luke Gignac with his first top-five of the season. Johnny Morrison finished sixth, followed by Lane Zardo, Tyler Liscum, Dwight Bell, Bryan Penny, Dan Archbald, Paul Allard, Coltin Everingham, Nick Tooley, Ric Watson and Candiss Everingham.
