After holding off Cayden Lapcevich in the closing stages of the feature, Matt Bentley was able to take home the victory in the St. Onge Recreation Super Stock feature at Sunset Speedway on Saturday night.
Matt Bentley won the first heat ahead of Jade Franklin, Dennis Cybalski, Nick Tooley, Chris Howse, Brendan Adams, Miles Tyson, William Hughes, Ric Watson and John Latimer.
Stan Coe won the second heat ahead of Lapcevich, Billy Zardo, Coltin Everingham, Ryan Semple, Rob Morrison, Lane Zardo, Dwight Bell and Doug Harvey.
Randy Rusnell won the final heat ahead of Mike Weeda, Adam Martin, Dan Archibald, Donny Munce, Johnny Morrison, Jason Elliott, Paul Maltese and Candiss Everingham.
Rob Morrison would be sent off before the start due to not wearing gloves. Ryan Semple picked up the win in the b-main ahead of Howse, Munce, Adams, Johnny Morrison, Lane Zardo, Elliott, Tyson, Bell, Harvey, Everingham, Watson and Hughes.
Bentley went for the daily double, winning the Fast Qualifer’s Dash ahead of Rusnell, Lapcevich, Coe, Weeda, Cybalski, Martin, Franklin, Archibald, Billy Zardo, Tooley and Coltin Everingham.
Come feature time, Mike Weeda would start the No. 6 Humberview Farms, Kenspin Ltd., Cedar Lawn Farms and Ken Lawnmower Repair Mustang on pole ahead of Jade Franklin, Brendan Adams, Randy Rusnell, Dan Archibald, Nick Tooley, Donny Munce, Chris Howse, Adam Martin, Cayden Lapcevich, Matt Bentley, Stan Coe, Coltin Everingham, Ryan Semple, Dennis Cybalski, Billy Zardo, Johnny Morrison, Lane Zardo, Jason Elliott, Miles Tyson, Dwight Bell, Doug Harvey, Candiss Everingham, Ric Watson, William Hughes and John Latimer.
Weeda would grab the early advantage while Franklin and Adams battled for second. Adams would get the spot on lap three, with Archibald following him through. Archibald would then get alongside Adams for second on lap four, completing the pass two laps later. Behind Archibald, Adams would go three-wide with Rusnell and Bentley for third. Bentley would move into third on lap eight ahead of Rusnell, Lapcevich, Adams, Coe and Semple.
Bentley would continue his climb to the front, getting alongside Archibald for second at lap 11 and completing the pass two laps later. Archibald would now run third ahead of Lapcevich, Rusnell, Semple, Adams, Coe, Franklin, Munce and Lane Zardo. Bentley would then get alongside Weeda for the lead at lap 17, completing the pass two laps later. However, the caution would fly for Tyson going around on the frontstretch. With 11 laps to go, Weeda led Bentley, Archibald, Lapcevich, Semple, Rusnell, Coe and Adams.
The first restart brought forth the second caution as Tooley stalled just off of turn four.
The second attempt saw Bentley put the No. 21 All Star Performance/Bentley Motorsports Super Stock out front ahead of Lapcevich and Semple as Archibald and Weeda battled for fourth. The caution would then fly with six laps to go, though, for a spin by Harvey in turn two.
Matt Bentley would get another good restart, and was able to hold off Cayden Lapcevich to the checkered flag for the win. Ryan Semple finished third, followed by Dan Archibald, Stan Coe, Randy Rusnell, Lane Zardo, Adam Martin, Mike Weeda, Johnny Morrison, Brendan Adams, Chris Howse, Donny Munce, Jason Elliott, Jade Franklin, Coltin Everingham, Billy Zardo, Dennis Cybalski, Dwight Bell, Candiss Everingham, Doug Harvey and William Hughes.
