Partnership Connects Two Industries That Depend on Speed, Reliability and Safety
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (September 23, 2015) – Whether it’s racing 500 miles on a Sunday afternoon or hauling freight 2,800 miles across the country, there is a common goal: to get to the end as quickly and safely as possible. This is why Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) is proud to announce their newest partner, J.B. Hunt Transport, one of the largest transportation logistics companies in North America.
J.B. Hunt Transport has a long history of providing safe and reliable transportation services to a diverse group of customers throughout the continental United States, Canada and Mexico. During the next year, this partnership with RPM will introduce thousands of professional J.B. Hunt truck drivers to NASCAR Hall of Fame champion and American icon Richard Petty and drivers Aric Almirola and Sam Hornish, Jr.
The logo of J.B. Hunt will also brand the No. 9 car of RPM for select races in 2015 and 2016. More importantly, RPM will host drivers and customers of J.B. Hunt during race weekends and provide a first-hand look at the logistics required by RPM to transport race vehicles coast to coast and prepare to race throughout 38 weeks of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Petty will also play a significant role in J.B. Hunt’s driver recruitment activities.
“A large driving force behind our country’s commerce is America’s loyal and trusted truck drivers who carry freight around the country and world, and all the people who work to ensure that they arrive safely,” said Richard Petty, Co-Owner, RPM. “Nobody does it better than J.B. Hunt and their thousands of employees. We’re proud to partner with them and I’m excited to be a part of their driver recruitment program. Our country’s truck drivers are the backbone of our commerce system and I can’t wait to interact with them.”
J.B. Hunt services include transportation of full truckload freight, which they directly transport utilizing company-controlled revenue equipment and company drivers or independent contractors. They also have arrangements with most of the major North American rail carriers to transport intermodal freight in containers and trailers. They also offer other logistics solutions such as dedicated contract carriage, less than truckload and final mile.
Their customer base is extremely diverse and includes a large number of Fortune 500 companies, making them a great fit with NASCAR and RPM.
“There is no bigger brand in NASCAR than Petty,” said Craig Harper, Executive Vice President of Operations, J.B. Hunt Transport. “All of our drivers know that name and can relate to the race team, their goals and the work and dedication that is required to safely transport the team’s equipment from race to race each week. Our drivers safely move freight across the country, and like Richard Petty Motorsports, safety and on-time delivery are paramount. This is a partnership where both of us can learn how to better ourselves in our business and also provide our workforce with great moments on and off the road.”
J.B. Hunt is the latest of new RPM partners in the past two years that include Monster Energy, R-M Automotive Finishes (a brand of BASF), Twisted Tea, BLUE-EMU, Nature Blast and more.
