As part of the Inside Track Short Track Night of Champions presented by Stoneridge Insurance, the Laird International Raceway and Peterborough Speedway Champions were honored for their accomplishments.
JP DelPaggion was honored as the Factory Stock Champion, stating that the track boosts a solid field of competitive cars each week. He also added that he plans on running some modified events across Ontario, as well as in Michigan for 2016.
Rob Hiemaa was honored as the Super Late Model Champion, stating the season was a lot of hard work.
“We build our own engines so we’re racing against a lot of state built engine,” he commented. ‘But running the fast lane is what it takes and we won the most features. As they say, win the most features and everything else takes care of itself.”
While he hasn’t traveled much in the past, Hiemaa stated that he does have some possible plans to run at Sunset Speedway as part of the Advance Auto Parts Late Model Series.
“I was talking to Mark (Dilley) there at Sunset and the new rules suit our cars a lot better,” he commented. “I don’t have to change hardly anything so I’d like to come down to a few of the shows there and see what we can do.”
Anthony DiBello was honored as the Thunder Car Champion, which came at a time where the championship run wasn’t a certainty to happen.
“We didn’t know if we were going to run the full year, but we went there and won the first night, second night, and kept winning features and won it by 70 something points for the championship,” he expressed.
DiBello added that he’s “not completely certain for this year” as to his plans as both his Late Model and Thunder Car are in the trailer.
Tyler Junkin was honored as the Mini Stock Champion.
“It’s pretty special with doing it all ourselves,” he stated. “We’ve never outsourced anything on the car. It’s a top-three car no matter where we take it, so it’s great to see.”
Ryan Oosterholt was honored as the Four Fun Champion.
“It’s getting 30 plus cars some nights, with lots of competitive guys,” he said.
Oosterholt is currently unsure of his plans for the upcoming year as he stated they “may throw something together”.
