Coming off an eighth-place finish at the season opening race in St. Petersburg, Carlos Munoz had a mid-race crash that took him out of the race, giving him a 22nd finish.
“Its a shame how we finished,” he said. “I got in a crash.”
Phoenix is one of those weekends that he’d more than likely want to forget as on Friday, he wrecked in turn one during qualifications and was forced to start from the back of the pack.
”Its a weekend to forget,” he said. “I just have to say thank you for the guys that worked so hard yesterday to get the car back together” This is racing. We lose and we win together.”
He was working his way up the field throughout the first half of the race when he made contact with the wall following a mechanical issue.
“We were recovering a lot of the positions from where we started,” Munoz said.
The Columbian will now shift his focus to the test on Wednesday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
