The Southeast Super Stocks rolled into Greenville-Pickens Speedway on Apil 23. The series might not have had one of the biggest car counts of the year, but they definitely had one of the most competitive divisions. Every driver was on their game and had the same game plan as each other and that was to stop Jason Leatherwood from grabbing another win.
Series veteran Scott Franklin set fast time in both the first two practice sessions. As qualifying rolled around, it was young Sawyer Frady who managed to snag the top spot with a blistering time of 22.020. He was followed by Easley, South Carolina’s own T.J. Lollis in second and Scott Franklin in third.
Frady rolled a five on the invert dice, which now set Tyler Worley on the pole for the feature and two time winner this year in the series Jason Leatherwood on the outside of the front row. As the green flag fell for the start of the race, Worley set site on the front and checked out.
Five laps into the race and Lollis was picking off the top leaders one by one and now sitting in the second position setting his sights in on the leader, Worley. It took Lollis several laps but he managed to get past Worley for the lead and was pulling away from the field. The race went caution free, but it was intense racing action the whole time.
Lollis went on the break Leatherwood’s winning streak and bringing home the victory at his home track. Lollis was followed by Worley (who had his best finish of the year), Franklin, Leatherwood, and Frady.
