This weekend race at Dover International Speedway is the AAA 400 Drive for Autism. During the race weekend, there will be over 40 driver from NASCAR’s three premier series that will display a special decal in support of Autism Delaware’s mission on their cars and trucks.
There will be 25 drivers from the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, 17 drivers from the NASCAR XFINITY Series and 13 drivers from the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series that will brandish the Autism Delaware decal for the race.
Autism Delaware was founded in 1998 as a leader in autism awareness to provide much needed service and support to Delaware’s autism community. They along with AAA-Mid-Atlantic will work together to raise both funds and awareness on May 15th.
The Monster Mile Spring race will celebrate it’s 10th year that the spring NASCAR Sprint Cup race as had association with purpose of autism awareness. They will host Autism Awareness day at the races in enclosed grandstand as to provide a sensory-friendly atmosphere for children and families on the autism spectrum to experience the race.
April is autism awareness month and during that time the Monster Monument at Victory Plaza was illuminated blue, the color for autism awareness during evening and night hours.
Autism is a developmental disability that effects the functioning of the brain. The autism spectrum effects over half a million in the United States today including those with pervasive develop-mental disorder(PDD-NOS) and Asperger’s Syndrome.
