It didn’t take Jordan Howse long to score a victory in the St. Onge Recreational Super Stock division, as he was the first to cross the finish line in his second career start.
Nick Troback won the first heat ahead of Coltin Everingham, Glenn Schurr, Howse, Dustyn Mombourquette, Johnny Morrison, Kendra Adams and John Latimer.
Matt Bentley won the second heat ahead of Ken Grubb, Troy Jones, Joe Adams, Shaun McWhirter, Kenny McNicol Jr., Paul Allard, Jerry Broom and Ethan Constable.
Jordan Howse won the third heat ahead Morrison, Schurr, Kendra Adams, Troback, Mombourquette, Everingham and Latimer.
Joe Adams won the fourth heat ahead of Bentley, Grubb, Stefan Semeraro, Allard, McNicol Jr., Morrison and Constable.
With qualifying complete and the feature line-up set, it’d be Jordan Howse on pole ahead of Ken Grubb, Nick Troback, Matt Bentley, Joe Adams, Stefan Semeraro, Coltin Everingham, Johnny Morrison, Dustyn Mombourquette, Kendra Adams, Kenny McNicol Jr., Paul Allard, John Latimer, Johnny Broom, Glenn Schurr, Shaun McWhirter, Dan Archibald and Ethan Constable.
From the pole, Howse put the No. 8 MACMASTER BUICK GMC OF ORANGEVILLE, STEWART’S EQUIPMENT, KUBOTA, GLENN WINDREM TRUCKING, PAUL HOWSE AND ASSOCIATES, FOODLAND OF HILLSBURGH, JOHN TEUNE ENGINES, FIERCEWRAPS.CA, DUTCHBOY CARPET CLEANING, SPECIALIZED WELDING, LARUE’S HAULAGE AND GEORGIA BECK BROOMS Super Stock out front ahead of Grubb. However, there’d be a quick caution for Archibald spinning on the frontstretch after contact with Shaun McWhirter, in a case of everybody diving for the same space.
The first attempt at a restart saw the second caution flag as a result of Troback and Grubb getting together in turn two, with Bentley spinning. Troback and Grubb both were sent to the back, but because Bentley was ruled as spinning to avoid the incident, he would get his spot back.
The second attempt saw a battle for the lead between Howse and Bentley, with Howse grabbing the advantage on Lap 5 ahead of Bentley. Joe Adams ran third ahead of Semeraro, Morrison, Everingham and McNicol as Mombourquette headed down pit road at Lap 6, done for the event.
McNicol made the move on Everingham on Lap 7, taking the sixth spot. Everingham now ran seventh ahead of Schurr, McWhirter, Archibald, Troback, Allard, Grubb and Kendra Adams as Broom battled Constable for 15th. Allard then made his move, getting alongside Troback for 11th at Lap 10.
At Lap 12, Jordan Howse continued to lead ahead of Matt Bentley, Joe Adams, Stefan Semeraro, Kenny McNicol Jr., Coltin Everingham, Glenn Schurr and Shaun McWhirter as Archibald and Troback battled for ninth ahead of Allard.
Schurr would get alongside Everingham for sixth at Lap 14, though was unable to complete the pass. Instead, Troback got alongside Schurr for seventh at Lap 20, completing the pass three laps later. Troback kept the momentum rolling, passing Everingham for sixth. Schurr would finally get his chance alongside Everingham, completing the pass for seventh at the halfway mark of the 50 lap feature.
The top seventh remained the same as Howse continued to lead Bentley, Adams, Semeraro, McNicol Jr., Troback and Schurr as Archibald got alongside Everingham for eighth, while Grubb and McWhirter battled for 10th behind them as Allard made his way down pit road. Archibald completed the pass on Everingham, followed by a pass on Schurr to move up to the seventh spot at Lap 27.
Schurr now ran eighth followed by Everingham, Grubb and McWhirter. Everingham’s top-10 run came to an end at Lap 32 as he’d head down pit road with overheating issues. He wouldn’t be the only driver to head down pit road with a problem, as John Latimer followed suit four laps later. Looking to come back from his early incident, Grubb got alongside Schurr for eighth, completing the pass with 12 laps to go.
At the front of the field, Jordan Howse had built up a considerable lead over the field, set to cruise to his first career victory. He’d run into a small snag when he was trying to put Dan Archibald a lap down. Contact would happen between the pair of drivers on the final lap, resulting in Howse getting real sideways on the frontstretch. Howse was able to make the impressive save, leading the rest of the way en route to the victory.
Matt Bentley finished second, followed by Joe Adams, Stefan Semeraro, Johnny Morrison and Nick Troback. Dan Archibald crossed the line in seventh, but was penalized for rough driving as a result of his contact with Howse, resulting in a DQ and last-place finish. Therefore, it’d be Kenny McNicol Jr. scored seventh, followed by Ken Grubb, Glenn Schurr and Shaun McWhirter.
