Johnny Paradzinski is quickly making a name for himself as he’d score his second feature victory of 2016 on Sunday afternoon at Sunset Speedway.
The day didn’t start off smoothly as Morgan Robson Jr. spun with three laps to go. Saturday night feature winner Ken Townsend picked up the win ahead of Eric Rainey, Melissa Bullen, Doug Wilman, Joe Dunlop, Robert Toope, Chandler Bos, Jeremy McLean and Morgan Robson Jr.
The second heat also featured a caution as Wendy Adams spun in turn four. Johnny Paradzinski won the heat ahead of Daniel Montanari, Billy McLeod, Dylan Holmes, James Levi, Lisa DeLeeuw, Doug Smith, Adams and Peter Wakeling.
Come feature time, it’d be Daniel Montanari starting pole ahead of Melissa Bullen, Jeremy McLean, Doug Wilman, Peter Wakeling, Doug Smith, Lisa DeLeeuw, Chandler Bos, Dylan Holmes, Peter Wakeling, Thomas Dunn, Robert Toope, Johnny Paradzinski, Eric Rainey, Billy McLeod, James Levi, Ken Townsend, Morgan Robson Jr., Wendy Adams and Josh Inglis.
Montanari took the early lead ahead of McLean as Bullen and Wilman battled for third. Wilman got the spot on Lap 3 ahead of Bullen, Smith and Bos. Dunlop would make his move, passing both Smith and Bos to move up into fifth on Lap 5. The caution then flew two laps later as Holmes went around in turn two. With 14 laps to go, Montanari led McLean, Wilman, Bullen, Dunlop, Bos, Smith, DeLeeuw, Paradzinski, Townsend, Levi and Dunn.
Montanari got a good restart to keep the lead ahead of McLean and Wilman as Paradzinski battled Bullen for fourth. Paradzinski got the spot at Lap 9, just before the caution flew for Dunlop spinning in turn three.
Montanari got another good restart as the battle broke out behind him between Paradzinski and McLean for second. Paradzinski got the spot on Lap 12, getting alongside Montanari the next lap.
He then put the No. 4 Stella Auto, Mega Wheelz, Prime Motors, Vinyl Obsessed and Image Wraps Honda Civic out front on Lap 14. Montanari ran second, followed by McLean, Wilman, Townsend and Bullen. Montanari then began falling back big time, dropping back to the sixth spot by Lap 16.
Meanwhile, Townsend was set for a late race charge, passing Wilman to move into third at Lap 17, while getting alongside McLean with two laps to go for second.
While the battles took place behind him, Johnny Paradzinski cruised to his second feature victory of the year. Ken Townsend was second, followed by Jeremy McLean, Doug Wilman, Thomas Dunn, Melissa Bullen, Chandler Bos, Robert Toope, James Levi, Chandler Bos, Lisa DeLeeuw, Justin Holmes, Daniel Montanari, Joe Dunlop, Dylan Holmes, Billy McLeod, Doug Smith, Wendy Adams, Peter Wakeling and Morgan Robson Jr.
