Kyle Batty seems to have Ontario Pro Challenge racing figured out as he picked up his third straight feature victory on Saturday night at Flamboro Speedway.
Peter Hattin won the first heat ahead of Ken Lillycrop, Tim Batty, Bryan Stevanus, Tim Shanahan and Rick Seeley.
Tim Norris won the second heat ahead of Kyle Batty, Patrick Freel, Mike Westwood, Larry Majuery, Dario Valente and Mike Johnston.
Tim Shanahan won the third heat ahead of Seeley, Tim Batty, Hattin, Lillycrop, Stevanus and Dean Provonost.
The fourth and final heat featured a quick caution as Westwood spun on Lap 3 off of turn three. Kyle Batty picked up the win ahead of Norris, Freel, Westwood, Majuery, Valente and Johnston.
Come feature time, it’d be Tim Shanahan leading once the field sorted itself out after ome three-wide in the early stages, as Peter Hattin battled Tim Batty for third. Hattin got the spot on Lap 4, bringing Stevanus through with him. The shuffling continued, though, with Westwood moving up to third on Lap 5 ahead of Stevanus.
Westwood quickly got by Hattin for second, tracking down Shanahan for the lead to put the No. 91 entry in first spot on Lap 7. Majurey grabbed second on Lap 8, as Freel and Shanahan battled for third. Freel got the spot on Lap 9 ahead of Kyle Batty, Norris and Shanahan as Hattin battled Lillycrop for seventh. Hattin took the spot on Lap 11 ahead of Lillycrop and Tim Batty.
Hattin then looked to get by Shanahan for sixth at Lap 12, as Freel moved into second a lap later. Norris grabbed third on Lap 14 ahead of Kyle Batty with Stevanus fourth.
Hattin ran fifth ahead of Lillycrop, Shanahan, Tim Batty, Seeley, Majurey, Valente, Provonost and Johnston. Majurey got alongside Seely for ninth at Lap 16, but was unable to complete the pass. The first caution of the race flew on Lap 20 as a result of Johnston having a problem down the backstretch.
Westwood got a good restart to keep the lead, as Freel and Norris battled for second behind him. Norris then was able to slip by Westwood for the top spot on Lap 24, bringing Freel through with him.
Freel kept himself right on Norris’ bumper, tagging him off of turn two, resulting in Norris spinning. Stevanus spun in the aftermath, with Norris getting a bit of air as he drove up on Steveaus’ hood. Steveanus was done for the feature, with Norris able to continue. Freel was put the back as an involved car, allowing Westwood to take over the top spot.
The restart saw Westwood and Kyle Batty battle for the top spot ahead of Lillycrop and Seeley as Norris and Hattin battled for fifth. Hattin’s strong run came to an end at Lap 27, as he was tagged by Freel, causing him to make heavy contact with the backstretch wall.
Kyle Batty got the lead on the final restart to pick up the win ahead of Mike Westwood, Ken Lillycrop, Tim Norris, Rick Seeley, Larry Majuery, Dean Provonost, Tim Batty, Rick Seeley and Dario Valente.
