Mikhail Aleshin, driver of the No. 7 Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Honda, won the Verizon P1 Pole award at Pocono Raceway with a speed of 220.445 mph.
Josef Newgarden (220.195 mph) and Takuma Sato (220.067 mph) were second and third.
Finishing up the top-five was Helio Castroneves (219.781 mph) and Carlos Munoz (219.647 mph).
James Hinchcliffe, Alexander Rossi, Will Power, Tony Kanaan and Ed Carpenter completed the top-10.
Ryan Hunter-Reay, driver of the No.28 DHL Honda crashed on practice earlier in the morning and had to go to a backup car. The team could not get the backup ready for pre-qualification inspection, therefore, he was not able to go out. He will start from the back. There were no other issues during qualifications.
