For the rescheduled running of the Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway the drivers were given a ten minute practice session. This is how the first half of the field did.
The fastest speed of the group was Marco Andretti, driver of the No. 27 Snapple Honda with a speed of 213.095.
Second went to James Hinchcliffe, driver of the No.5 Arrow Honda, with a speed of 210.977, followed by Ryan Hunter-Reay, driver of the No. 28 DHL Honda with a speed 210.859.
Rounding out the top-five was Ed Carpenter, driver of No. 20, driver of the Fuzzy’s Chevrolet with a speed of 210.741 and Gabby Chaves, driver of the No. 19 Boy Scouts of America Honda.
Sixth through tenth were as follows: Helio Castroneves, Mikhail Aleshin, Will Power, Charlie Kimball, and Takuma Sato.
Also to note that Sato brought the yellow when he got into the wall.
