The NASCAR XFINITY Series took to the Chicagoland Speedway for opening practice ahead of tomorrow’s Drive for Safety 300.
Daniel Suarez led the way after about 25 minutes in the rain shortened session with a speed of 30.475 seconds (177.194 MPH). Erik Jones was second .197 seconds off the pace set by his JGR teammate.
Kyle Busch was third but suffered a blown engine early in the session. JJ Yeley and Joey Logano rounded out the top five.
Elliott Sadler, Ty Dillon, Kyle Larson, Brandon Jones, and Justin Allgaier rounded out the top ten.
Notables include: Paul Menard 11th, Brennan Poole 12th, Clint Bowyer 13th, Ryan Reed 14th, Darrell Wallace Jr. 15th, Brendan Gaughan 16th, and Blake Koch 19th.
