In what turned out to be a wacky qualifying session, Kyle Busch was able to obtain his 58th career pole in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He was the defending pole winner who went on to win the Heads Up Georgia 250 last season.
The top-5 was filled with Cup regulars, but one Xfinity Series regular made a statement in qualifying today, and that was the rookie William Byron. He will start a career best second in the Rinnai 250 later this afternoon. Brad Keselowski, Kyle Larson, and Denny Hamlin round out the Top-5.
In the first round of qualifying, two incidents put out the red flag slowing the session to a halt. Carl Long in the No. 13 made contact with the outside wall, and would park it at the entrance of the back stretch. The second incident involved Mike Harmon who went up in flames after an issue. Both drivers would join Morgan Shepherd as the three drivers to miss the race.
