Following a solid start to his sophomore NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season, Austin Wayne Self will attempt his NASCAR XFINITY Series debut for Carl Long’s race team, MBM Motorsports. Self will drive the No. 40 Dodge at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Carl Long announced on the team’s Facebook page on Thursday that the Texas driver will make his debut.
Self has gotten off to a good start in the Truck Series this season. In three races, Self scored a career-best finish of second for his dad’s team, AM Racing, at Daytona International Speedway. He’s followed up the runner-up result with two top-15 finishes including a 12th-place in last weekend’s Truck race at Charlotte.
In 25 total Truck races to his credit, Self has two top-10 finishes. He also has one ARCA Racing Series victory at Winchester Speedway in 2015.
