The 22-year old Seymour Wisconsin native will be making his NASCAR XFINITY Series debut tonight in the American Ethanol E15 250 presented by Enogen at the Iowa Speedway. Ty Majeski will pilot the No. 60 iRacing Ford Mustang, a car that has an historic past to it with drivers like the second winningest driver in the series Mark Martin, Carl Edwards, 2015 series champion Chris Buescher, among many other drivers.
Majeski has been a member of the NASCAR Next class for the last two seasons and has made his name not only on the real track, but the virtual one as well. Majeski has used iRacing as the ultimate tool, earning the highest rating of any driver on oval tracks. The announcement was made back in March that Majeski would get a shot at an XFINITY race, and now that the time has come, he’s itching to make his first start behind the wheel of an XFINITY Series car.
“I’m really looking forward to getting on track this weekend in Iowa,” said Majeski in a team release. I feel like it has been such a long time since we made the announcement, and I’m just eager to get going.”
Majeski is looking at adding to the success that Roush Fenway Racing has had at Iowa since its addition to the XFINITY Series schedule in 2009. RFR has found victory lane five times with four of those coming in the first race of the season at Iowa. Drivers Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Trevor Bayne, and Chris Buescher have all secured victories for RFR with Stenhouse earning the most with three.
“Roush Fenway obviously has a lot of success at Iowa Speedway, so I feel confident that we will have a car capable of running up front. I’ve been logging a lot of time on Ford’s simulator and definitely been working on getting familiar with Iowa Speedway using iRacing. I’m hoping the preparation pays off with a solid run Saturday.”
