Fresh off of two solid performances at both Michigan International Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Team Penske has announced Austin Cindric will make his NASCAR XFINITY Series debut in the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford next weekend at Road America.
Cindric, whose racing background began on road courses, will make his first NASCAR start at the famed Wisconsin circuit next weekend instead of getting a week off like most of the Truckers. Cindric will again make both left and right turns the following weekend when the Truck Series makes its annual trip north of the border to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario.
“It’s the biggest opportunity in my racing career, and I’m really excited to get started,” Cindric said in a video posted to the team’s Twitter account. “One of the best race tracks in the country, in my opinion.”
The last time the XFINITY Series raced on a road course was just one week ago when Sam Hornish, Jr. took the No. 22 for Team Penske to victory lane at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Cindric will look to do the same thing next Sunday.
