Blake Koch led the sole NASCAR XFINITY Series practice at Richmond Raceway on Friday Morning. Koch turned a fast lap time of 21.967 around the 0.75-mile track with a speed of 122.139 MPH. William Byron wound up second followed by Brandon Jones, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Ryan Reed.
Brad Keselowski, Cole Custer, Ty Dillon, Spencer Gallagher, and Brennan Poole rounded out the top-10.
Noticeable absent from the top-10 on the speedcharts is all-time winningest XFINITY Series driver, Kyle Busch. Busch was 12th in practice, and is working with interim crew chief Matt Lucas this weekend. The No. 18’s usual crew chief Eric Phillips is serving a two-race suspension after the team failed post-race inspection at the NASCAR R&D Center following the race win with Denny Hamlin at Darlington Raceway.
Championship points leader Elliott Sadler finished 13th in the practice session and needs a strong run in order to clinch the regular season championship and add an additional 15 playoff points to his resume.
Richmond rookie Tyler Reddick turned the most laps of the session at 114, while Jeff Green and Reed Sorenson turned the least amount of laps at nine each.
