MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 19, 2018) – Thad Moffitt and the No. 46 Empire Racing team will return to the ARCA Racing Series this weekend to compete in the Menards 200 at the Toledo (Ohio) Speedway. Moffitt, the 17 year-old Richard Petty Motorsports development driver, will make his second start at Toledo on Sunday afternoon, and feels that he can breakthrough in his sixth start in the competitive ARCA Racing Series.
“Yeah, I really feel that we are capable of getting our first Top-10 finish this weekend,” said Moffitt. “I’m getting more and more experience in these ARCA cars, and I’m coming back to Toledo for a second time. We just need to stay out of trouble and have a clean race.”
Moffitt has a best finish of 11th in the ARCA Racing Series at the short track in Indianapolis.
“We’ve proven that when we have a clean race, we can be up front,” commented Moffitt. “Hopefully we can have a good qualifying run on Saturday and that will help us run up front. We’ll have a new partner, CGS Imaging, and they are giving us what we need all weekend.”
Moffitt, the 2016 Southeast Limited Late Model Champion from Trinity, North Carolina, is the son of Brian and Rebecca Petty-Moffitt. He started racing a go-kart and a quarter midget before moving to a Limited Late Model and now a Late Model and the ARCA Racing Series. A high school student, Moffitt grew up going to the track with his grandfather (“The King” Richard Petty) and also watching his uncle, Kyle Petty, race.
Moffitt also has primary sponsorship from Performance Plus Motor Oil, Transportation Impact and associate sponsorship from Hostetler Ranches.
Sunday’s race will be televised live on MAVTV at 2:00 p.m. ET. You can also follow Moffitt through his Facebook page (Thad Moffitt Racing), Twitter (@ThadMoffitt) and Instagram (moffitt_thad).
