The No. 18 JGR Toyota of Denny Hamlin failed post-race inspection at Darlington Raceway. The Car failed to meet left-front height requirements.
Hamlin held off a hard charging Cole Custer to take the checkered flag, but as result of the post-race infraction, he will be disqualified. Custer has now been declared the winner of the Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200.
Custer was asked about discovering he had won the race. “I was just standing by the hauler and everybody started going around the tech shed and I got a call from my crew chief. He was standing about 15 feet away from me and he was like, ‘They’re too low.’ And so it was pretty crazy. And then you’re just praying you make it through tech, so it was a strange way to win that’s for sure.”
The win is Custer’s sixth of the season tying Christopher Bell for the most in the series.
