NCWTS: Erik Jones wins pole for Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway

Fresh off announcing that he will run the full NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule in 2015 for Kyle Busch Motorsports, Erik Jones would win the pole for the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway. The 18-year-old lapped the track in 26.562 seconds to set a brand new track record, eclipsing the previous record set by Nelson Piquet Jr. It marks Jones’ second career 21 Means 21 Pole Award, and his second of the 2014 season. Jones won last year’s event for his first career truck series victory.

Championship points leader Matt Crafton qualified second, two tenths off of Jones, for his 16th top-10 start of the season. Crafton is looking for his second straight championship in a row.

Rookie Ben Kennedy qualified third for his ninth top-10 start of the year, ahead of teammate Ben Rhodes and Joey Coulter.

Spencer Gallagher qualified sixth, followed by Tyler Reddick, John Hunter Nemechek, Darrell Wallace Jr. and Timothy Peters. Front runners Johnny Sauter and Ryan Blaney qualified 14th and 17th, respectively.

The start of the Lucas Oil 150 is under a slight delay as a result of issues with the lights, but can be seen on FOX Sports 1 once it begins.
