Jeff Gordon wants to go out on top in his final Daytona 500, and he’s getting a good start at that. The Daytona 500 pole sitter would lead the Friday morning practice with a lap of 46.613 seconds.
Michael Waltrip was second quickest, 0.144 seconds behind Gordon, as he fills in for Brian Vickers. Martin Truex Jr. continued his positive Daytona Speedweeks posting the third quickest lap, followed by Penske Racing’s Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano.
Paul Menard was sixth, followed by Matt Kenseth, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Jamie McMurray and Trevor Bayne.
