In his second ever weekend in a full-body stock-car, A.J. Emms would continue to improve, showing a little more speed on Saturday night in the No. 99 Late Model for Mike Westwood Fabrication.
Emms would start off the night by posting a 15.160 lap in time trials, which notably was a tenth quicker than his time from last weekend. The lap would set him up to start 20th in the first feature of the night.
The start of the feature didn’t go as Emms would’ve liked as he fell back to the 21st spot by the first caution at lap 11. Emms would keep laying down solid laps, continuing to get used to the car and kept all four corners of the car, but would go a lap down to the leaders at lap 24. By race’s end, he would cross the finish line in the 25th position.
As a result, he would start the second feature in the 25th position. With the first feature under his belt and a feel for the car, Emms started race solidly, moving up to the 22nd position by the first caution at lap 17. Though as the race went on, the handling fell off a little, resulting in Emms falling back to the 24th spot before the checkered flag flew.
