Three Car Line-Up For F1600 Support Race in Montreal
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (June 03, 2015) – The Canadian Grand Prix is undoubtedly the highlight of the country’s motorsport calendar and for Exclusive Autosport, the chance to further cement its reputation as one of the country’s leading race teams again presents itself with the inclusion of F1600 in the support category this weekend, 5th-7th June.
The team, back-to-back winners of the F1600 support races in 2013 and 2014 with Thomas McGregor and Tristan DeGrand respectively, will field three one-off entries at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in 2015. Hometown talent will be represented courtesy of Jesse Lazare (18) and Patrick Dussault (23) while American teenager Max Mällinen (17) will complete the trio competing under the Exclusive Autosport banner – the official North American factory Spectrum team.
With four straight victories and two of four pole positions at the Canadian Grand Prix event, Exclusive Autosport team owner Michael Duncalfe is naturally keen to return to the scene of his team’s most notable triumphs – all of which were followed up by title success in both the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship and Formula Tour F1600 Pro Class series.
“I’m thrilled we’ve been able to put together a package that allows Exclusive Autosport to be represented at the Canadian Grand Prix F1600 support event,” Duncalfe commented. “While we’re competing full-time as a team in the United States this season, we’re a proudly Canadian team and the Grand Prix is a landmark event for us each year. I’m delighted that we’ll be back and racing on both sides of the border this weekend.
“It’s fantastic that we have two Montreal-born drivers joining us in the form of Jesse and Patrick. Needless to say they’ll enjoy some incredible hometown support and with their respective levels of experience, I’m hoping they’ll be quick straight from the trailer. Max will revel in the opportunity and he knows our Spectrum cars well having won last year’s Spectrum International Scholarship alongside Tristan DeGrand. It’ll be a fun weekend and one I’m hoping that will see Exclusive Autosport uphold its winning ways at the track.”
Patrick Dussault (#90 Exclusive Autosport / Spectrum / Honda Racing HPD) is currently competing and winning in the British National Formula Ford F1600 series. Max Mällinen (#91 Exclusive Autosport / Spectrum / Honda Racing HPD) is racing in the 2015 USF2000 Championship this season having won the 2014 Formula F National Championship. Jesse Lazare (#92 Exclusive Autosport / Spectrum / Honda Racing HPD) competes in the Porsche GT3 Cup having excelled earlier in his career in open-wheel racing, which also included a podium in 2013 at the F1 event and karting, where he was a three-time National Champion.
This weekend’s F1600 double-header forms Round 2 of the Formula F1600 Super Series, the inter-provincial championship between the Ontario Toyo Tires F1600 Championship and the Quebec Formula Tour Championship. Race 1 takes place at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Saturday 6th June at 2:50pm EST with Race 2 held on Sunday 7th June at 9am EST – both races 30 minutes in duration.
Formed in 2013, Exclusive Autosport has quickly forged a reputation as one of North America’s premier junior formula outfits. Championship success came quickly under Michael Duncalfe’s leadership with notable achievements including back-to-back driver titles in 2013 and 2014 in the Canadian Toyo Tires F1600 A-Class Championship and in the Quebec Formula Tour 1600 Pro-Class Championship.
