Concord, N.C. (June 4, 2015) Athenian Motorsports announced today that Alex Bowman will drive the No. 25 Zaxby’s Chevrolet in the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday June 13th.
The 22-year-old Bowman will substitute for John Wes Townley, who will be competing in the NASCAR Camping World Series event that evening at Gateway Motorsports Park near St. Louis.
“I’m really excited about working with the guys at Athenian,” said Bowman, a Tucson, Ariz. native who drives full-time in the Sprint Cup Series for Tommy Baldwin Racing. “And Michigan is one of my favorite places to race. I think we can run up front and, hopefully, contend for a win.”
Dylan Lupton will pilot the Zaxby’s Chevrolet in the XFINITY Series race on Saturday night June 20th at Chicagoland Speedway, while Townley competes in the NASCAR Truck Series race that same weekend at Iowa Speedway.
Townley will return to the No. 25 Chevrolet when Daytona International Speedway hosts the XFINITY Series on Saturday night July 4th.
