ST: Grala Dominates in PASS Debut at South Boston Speedway

Making his Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model debut, Kaz Grala and his No. 51 Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) team had a fast ToyotaCare Camry from the time they unloaded for practice Saturday afternoon at South Boston (Va.) Speedway until the time they took the checkered flag later in the evening. The 16-year-old driver paced the opening practice session, posted the second fastest time in final practice, set the fast time in qualifying and was able to keep his ToyotaCareCamry out front for 131 of the race’s 150 laps en route to victory at the 4/10-mile oval.

Grala started the race from the second position and grabbed the lead for the first time on lap 17. The talented teenager’s biggest challenge came shortly after a lap-113 restart when he surrendered the lead to Jared Fryar for a few laps. Grala made his way back to the front of the field on lap 118 and when the race ended on a long-green flag run crossed the finish line 3.315 seconds ahead of runner-up finisher Clay Rogers.

“South Boston is my favorite track, so I couldn’t think of a better place to get my first win with Kyle Busch Motorsports,” Grala said. “The guys gave me an amazing ToyotaCare Camry tonight — I can’t thank everyone at KBM and Toyota enough for this opportunity.”
