SPARTA, Ky. – The AeroShell Aerobatic Team is set to carve the skies over Kentucky Speedway with an array of daring stunts during a special prerace performance and flyover on NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts race day July 11.
The longest-flying civilian aerobatic team in North America delights audiences by reeling off tricks in four iconic red-white-and-black North American AT-6 Texans amid billowing smoke.
Three decades of renowned airmanship propelled the team to the International Council of Air Shows Foundation (ICAS) Hall of Fame in 2014. The team also earned the air show community’s two most prestigious performance awards – the Art Scholl Showmanship Award and the Bill Barber Award for Showmanship.
Flyers will treat Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts guests with an exhibition that will roll into Jerrod Niemann’s prerace concert performance and stage the prerace flyover.
A busy prerace ceremony slate also is scheduled to spotlight a rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” by the 113th U.S. Army Band from Fort Knox, Ky., a “God Bless America” performance by Leo Welsh of the Columbus Blue Jackets National Hockey League (NHL) Club, fire truck parade laps for National Fallen Firefighters Foundation members along with celebrity guest and driver introductions.
