Spencer Gallagher Drivin’ For Linemen 200 Event Preview – Gateway Motorsports Park
Gallagher Heads to Mid-America for Gateway Debut
Green at Gateway … The second edition of the Drivin’ For Linemen 200 marks the debut for Spencer Gallagher, driver of the No. 23 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet, at the 1.25 mile Gateway Motorsports Park (GMSP). After sitting idle for four seasons, the egg-shaped oval across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, Mo. will host the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (GMSP) for the second consecutive season, and the fifteenth time overall. Saturday’s eighth NCWTS event of 2015 will be Gallagher’s fifth track-debut of his rookie campaign. Gallagher has adapted to quickly to new tracks in 2015, scoring a season-best finish of 10th at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway (CMS), and is primed to record a new season-best result at GMSP.
Rookie Season Rundown … Through seven of 23 events, Gallagher comes to GMSP eighth in NCWTS points. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender most recently tied his second-best finish of the season with a 12th-place result last weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Gallagher has five top-15 finish thus far in his rookie campaign, posting a high-water mark finish of 10th at CMS.
Gateway Chassis … For the second time in 2015, Gallagher will wheel GMS Racing chassis No. 021. This particular Allegiant Travel Chevrolet was most recently in action at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway in March. In that event, Gallagher was running comfortably inside the top 10 when contact from another competitor shuffled him back to a 14th-place finish. In 2014, GMS Racing utilized this chassis in four races with Joey Coulter behind the wheel, all of which were at short tracks.
Travel is Our Deal … Allegiant operates non-stop service to and from Mid-America Airport, outside of Belleville, IL (BLV), which is located less than 30 minutes from GMSP and services the St. Louis metropolitan area. With low-low fares, nonstop flights, all-jet service and premier travel partners, Allegiant provides a complete travel experience with a great value without all the hassle.
Tune-In Alert… GMS Racing hosts a weekly webcast series as a behind-the-scenes experience for fans. “Before the Green Flag” features race previews and storylines leading up to race weekends with interviews from drivers and all of the personalities that make up GMS Racing. Before the Green Flag can be found on the GMSracing.net Multimedia page, GMS Racing’s Youtube Channel, and at GMSRacingLLC on Facebook and Twitter.
Meet Spencer… The second of four collectible hero cards for Gallagher is now available. Fans can pick up the new hero card on Saturday, June 8, as Gallagher is scheduled to participate in the NCWTS autograph session from 3:15-4:00 p.m. CT.
SPENCER GALLAGHER QUOTE:
On what to expect in his first start at the egg-shaped Gateway Motorsports Park:
“This will be my first time competing at Gateway (Motorsports Park), and it’s certainly one of the most unique places we race at. Both ends of the racetrack are completely different, with different radiuses and banking. Finding the right balance always seemed to be a struggle in past races there. We’re bringing the same Allegiant Travel Chevrolet that we ran well with at Martinsville, so we hope to have an even better performance this weekend. It’s great to have Gateway on the NCWTS schedule again, and it always puts on great racing. Hopefully we can be in the mix towards the late stages on Saturday night.”
