LARSON READY TO BATTLE IN THE VALLEY OF THE SUN
The NASCAR XFINITY Series heads west for the penultimate race of the 2015 season at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) on Saturday afternoon. Kyle Larson will make his 13th XFINITY Series start of the season in the ENEOS Chevrolet Camaro. In four previous XFINITY Series starts at the 1.0-mile D-shaped oval, Larson has a best starting spot of ninth and finish of fourth, both coming in the spring race in 2014. Larson finished 10th in his most-recent start at PIR, the Sprint Cup Series race in March.
TEXAS RECAP
Following a two-week break, the XFINITY Series returned for the final three-race stretch of the 2015 season, beginning at Texas Motor Speedway last week. Larson was behind the wheel of the ParkerStore Chevrolet Camaro for the 300-mile race. After qualifying was cancelled due to track-drying issues, Larson started 16th and worked his way to the lead by lap 118. With 22 laps remaining, Larson cut a left-rear tire while leading, ending a promising day that saw him lead three times for 50 laps. He was scored with a 33rd-place finish.
LARSON ON PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
“Phoenix is one of the most unique and challenging race tracks on the NASCAR circuit. The turns have two different degrees of banking, which you have to compromise on. Restart are always crazy with the dogleg in the backstretch. I’m excited to have ENEOS on the side of our Chevy and based on how strong we ran last week, I look forward to Saturday’s race.”
CREW CHIEF MIKE SHIPLETT ON PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
“Track position can be hard to come by in Phoenix, just because passing is so tricky there. If we get the balance of the car close to what Kyle likes and have good pit stops, we have a good shot at bringing home a strong run or maybe even a win.”
