INNISFIL, ON – Following a debut performance that drew rave reviews from fans, Sunset Speedway will once again host the NASCAR Pinty’s Series on June 18th.
The Leland 300 presented by Dickies will welcome Canada’s best racers and teams for the second consecutive season.
“We’re all incredibly excited to have the NASCAR Pinty’s Series returning in 2016,” says Sunset Speedway General Manager Mark Dilley.
“The show they put on last season was fantastic, and our fans let us know all year long just how badly they wanted us to bring back the series. We try to listen to our fans as much as possible – so inviting the Pinty’s Series back was a no brainer”
The Pinty’s Series’ initial visit to Sunset drew favourable reviews from its competitors, who expressed a willingness to return to the 1/3-mile oval in 2016.
“The drivers on the Pinty’s Series roster get to travel to some of the best facilities in the country, so knowing they enjoyed racing at Sunset is a huge compliment,” explains Dilley.
“We’re proud of our speedway and we work hard to make sure it looks and feels like one of Canada’s elite. This season is no different, and we’ll be sure to do everything in our power to make sure that the facility is ready for the best fans and drivers in Canada on June 18th”
Following a dominant performance by Alex Tagliani in the inaugural Series event in 2015, Dilley is confident there will be a long list of challengers eager to add their name to Sunset’s win list.
“I think the second visit for a lot of these drivers is going to be interesting,” opines Dilley.
“They know what to expect on long runs now. They have an idea of what the tire wear is going to feel like and how they need to adjust for the track conditions. Alex [Tagliani] was as close to perfect as you’re going to get last season, but I think there’s going to be a group of teams capable of getting to victory lane this year.”
