The first practice for the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis saw seven Chevrolets and three Hondas to make up the top-10 on the speed charts.
Will Power, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet, was at the top of the chart with a speed of 125.624 mph while in second was the top Honda of the No. 15 Steak and Shake driven by Graham Rahal with a speed of 125.309 mph.
Rounding out the top-five where Power’s Team Penske teammates Juan Pablo Montoya, Simon Pagenaud and Helio Castroneves.
Sixth to tenth was as follows: Scott Dixon, Josef Newgarden, Marco Andretti, Sebastien Bourdias and Carlos Munoz.
There were two incidents on the track during the session that brought the red flag out. The first was for Matt Brabham as he stalled on pit lane, while the second was for Helio Castroneves after he spun on track.
Also well to note that James Hinchcliffe was not able to turn any laps this session as there had been report of the car having smoke coming from it and it was taken back to the garage to determine what was the cause of it.
There will be a second session later this afternoon for the drivers.
