by Tommy Goudge (May 16, 2016) – Six Nations, Ontario – The Hill’s Racing Team is looking forward to Sprint Car racing close to home this weekend, with visits to Ohsweken Speedway and Brighton Speedway on their schedule.
Mother Nature again interfered with the plans of Alex Hill and her #77x team. Their original plan was to race at Lima, Ohio last Friday, and Crystal, Michigan last Saturday. A school obligation kept her home from Lima, while rain and cold weather postponed Crystal again, where teammate Dain Naida was also planning to be with his #17x.
The Hill’s Racing Team will have a total of five cars in action at Ohsweken’s Season Opener this Friday, as Alex Hill, Dain Naida, and Cory Turner will compete in the 360 Sprint Car division, while Jerry Hill and Shone Evans will make their debuts in the Crate Sprint Car division. Alex, Dain, and Cory will then head east to Brighton Speedway on Saturday for the opening round of the 2016 Southern Ontario Sprints tour.
Alex claimed two Crate Sprint Car feature wins last season at Ohsweken and finished 4th in the championship standings. The 16 year old driver is very much looking forward to her 4th Ohsweken start in a 360 Sprint Car.
“(I’m) excited to race only ten minutes from home and get home early, but also because Ohsweken is one of my favourite tracks,” Alex said of the 3/8 mile track. “I like how big and wide it is, and how fast I can go. I’m pretty excited to race close to home this weekend with people that I know, and so my family can come and watch.”
Alex has some knowledgeable teammates to ask for advice. Both Cory and Dain have tasted success in 360 Sprint Cars at Ohsweken; Cory won the 2014 Rookie of the Year award before finishing 4th in the championship standings last season, while Dain has 5 career feature wins there. Naida is also a 3 time winner at Brighton Speedway, while Cory got his first Brighton win last season.
