After winning the first feature on the night, Taylor Holdaway worked his way from 14th to the front in the second feature to make it two wins on the night. For Holdaway, it marks his fourth feature victory of 2016.
Following the first feature, it’d be Danny Benedict starting pole ahead of Jordan Latimer, Travis Hallyburton, Thayne Hallyburton, Sean Cronan, Tom Walters, Billy Zardo, Nick Goetz, Britney Gresel, Kevin Cornelius, Mike Bentley, Ryan Kimball, Gord Shepherd, Taylor Holdaway, Adam Martin, Dwayne Baker, Scott Wylie, Chris Morrow, Lane Zardo, Paul Maltese, Ernie Fumerton, Mike Wilkinson, Al Inglis and Kyle Passer.
The feature started off messy from the start as Inglis and Passer had an incident in turn two on Lap 1.
The second attempt to start the race didn’t go much cleaner as while Danny Benedict led Lap 1, a big wreck broke out on Lap 2. Down the backstretch going into turn three, Cronan got hooked, taking Walters with him into the wall. Behind them, Kimball, Baker and Morrow would be left no where to go, getting damage. Out of the five drivers involved, Kimball was the only one able to continue following repairs on pit road.
With 34 laps to go, Benedict led Travis Hallyburton, Latimer, Thayne Hallyburton, Billy Zardo, Gresel, Cornelius, Bentley and Goetz.
The restart brought a battle for the lead between Benedict and Travis Hallyburton, but the caution flew once again. Gresel got a little sideways following contact, stacking up the field resulting in Maltese and Lane Zardo getting together.
Travis Hallyburton put the No. 39 HILLSDALE SERVICE CENTER, KNIGHTWORKS DESign Late Model out front on the restart ahead of Benedict, Thayne Hallyburton and Gresel as Billy Zardo and Latimer battled for fifth. Inglis headed down pit road with a problem on Lap 5, while Zardo cleared Latimer to get the spot. Thayne continued his climb to the front, passing Benedict on Lap 5 to take the second spot while Billy Zardo got alongside Gresel for fourth.
Gresel was able to hold him off, getting alongside Benedict for third, while Goetz got alongside Zardo for fifth. In a clean sweep of the events, Goetz was able to work his way into third at Lap 8 ahead of Gresel, Zardo, Benedict, Shepherd, Bentley and Cornelius. The caution then flew at Lap 11 as Zardo dumped Gresel going into turn three. With 25 laps to go, Travis Hallyburton led Thayne Hallyburton, Goetz, Holdaway, Shepherd, Bentley, Benedict, Cornelius, Wylie, Latimer, Kimball, Lane Zardo, Martin, Fumerton, Maltese and Wilkinson.
Travis Hallyburton got a good restart to keep the lead, while Holdaway passed Thayne Hallyburton for second before the caution flew as Gresel got her payback, spinning Billy Zardo.
The first attempt at a restart resulted in the sixth caution as Bentley spun Goetz in turns one and two. With 23 laps to go, Travis Hallyburton led Holdaway, Thayne Hallyburton, Shepherd, Cornelius, Benedict, Wylie, Latimer, Lane Zardo, Kimball, Martin, Fumerton and Maltese.
Holdaway got a good restart to put the No. 41 Bay Auto and Truck Parts, Holdaway Automotive, Image Factor Motorsports Design and Photography, KartSTART presented by Toyota, Yamaha Motor Canada, Wix Filters, Castrol Canada, Sunshine Super Wash, and Stefko Racing Engines Late Model out front ahead of Travis Hallyburton, Shepherd, Thayne Hallyburton, Cornelius and Wylie as Lane Zardo and Benedict battled for seventh. Cornelius then got alongside Thayne for fourth at Lap 17, but wasn’t able to complete the pass before the caution flew for Passer spinning in turn two. With 18 laps to go, Holdaway led Travis Hallyburton, Shepherd, Thayne Hallyburton, Cornelius, Wylie, Lane Zardo, Benedict, Martin, Latimer, Kimball and Billy Zardo.
Holdaway got a good restart to keep the lead ahead of Shepherd and Travis Hallyburton as Thayne Hallyburton and Cornelius battled for fourth. Cornelius got the spot at Lap 20 ahead of Thayne and Wylie, with the eighth caution flying a lap later for Lane Zardo hitting the turn one wall after suffering an issue. With 16 laps to go, Holdaway led Shepherd, Travis Hallyburton, Cornelius, Thayne Hallyburton, Wylie, Martin, Benedict, Billy Zardo, Latimer, Bentley, Goetz, Kimball and Gresel.
Holdaway got another good restart ahead of Shepherd as Travis Hallyburton and Cornelius battled for third. Travis was able to keep the spot ahead of Cornelius, clearing him on Lap 24 while Thayne Hallyburton ran fifth as Martin and Wylie battled for sixth ahead of Billy Zardo.
Holdaway continued to lead ahead of Shepherd, Travis Hallyburton, Cornelius, Thayne Hallyburton and Martin as Zardo and Wylie battled for seventh. Wylie got the spot at Lap 30, bringing Bentley through with him. Bentley then got alongside Wylie for seventh at Lap 31, with Goetz getting alongside Zardo a lap later for ninth.
Closer to the front, Travis Hallyburton tracked down Shepherd, getting alongside him for second. His charge was stopped, though, as the caution flew on Lap 33 for Martin spinning in turn two.
The first attempt at a restart resulted in a messy wreck with Wylie climbing the backstretch wall following contact, with Billy Zardo getting collected up in the mess in the process. Under caution, Gresel made the decision to head own pit road.
Taylor Holdaway went on to pick up the win ahead of Gord Shepherd, Travis Hallyburton, Kevin Cornelius, Mike Bentley, Nick Goetz, Thayne Hallyburton, Jordan Latimer, Danny Benedict, Ryan Kimball, Ernie Fumerton, Adam Martin, Mike Wilkinson and Paul Maltese.
