Battling for the lead in the late stages of the race, Eric Yorke came up one spot shy of scoring another feature victory this season.
He started off the night in victory lane, though, scoring the victory in his qualifying heat.
As the last feature winner, he’d be forced to start the feature from the 14th position. He’d begin to make up ground immediately, getting up to sixth by Lap 10. He got Nic Montanari for sixth, followed by Gerrit Tiemersma for fifth, to challenge Cameron McGlashan for fourth on Lap 12. He’d get the spot just before the caution flew for a pair of spins on track. With the involved cars moved to the back of the field, he’d get to restart from the second spot.
The restart saw a battle for the lead between Yorke and Charlie Smith, with Yorke putting the No. 51 Can-Alignment Motorsports, Milton Napa Auto Parts, J&D Tire, Solex Steel, McKeown Collision, Partimer Signs, Ancaster Embroidery, Country Girl Designs, Cabral Racing Promotions and Skytec Rentals Nissan out front on Lap 16 ahead of Smith.
The lead didn’t last long, as there’d be a 3-wide battle for the top spot a lap later between Yorke, Smith and Mike Robinson Jr., resulting in Yorke losing the lead after he got into the wall. He’d eventually fall back to third, battling for the spot with Tiemersma when the caution flew for a single-car spin.
Yorke got a good restart, but ultimately crossed the finish line in the fourth spot. He’d be bumped up to second post-race, though, as the top-two finishing cars failed post-race technical inspection.
Special thanks to Can-Alignment Motorsports, Milton Napa Auto Parts, J&D Tire, Solex Steel, McKeown Collision, Partimer Signs, Ancaster Embroidery, Country Girl Designs, Cabral Racing Promotions and Skytec Rentals for their support.
