BRIGHTON, Ont. (July 6, 2016) – Brighton Speedway’s 49th season of racing continues when the Southern Ontario Sprints return for their third appearance of the season for VanZuylen Tire and Electro Cables night on July 9. The night also features the second 35-lap race of the Hotch’s Auto Parts Pro Late Model Triple Crown.
The Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks and Quinte Septic Stingers are all on the card while the Kiwanis of Trenton Kart Klub will offer a karting demonstration on the infield oval. Spectator gates open at 5:00pm for the 7:00pm race time. Adult admission is $20.
Brantford, Ont. native Mitch Brown has been unstoppable so far this season in Southern Ontario Sprints competition at Brighton. Brown has won both events at the Northumberland County oval so far this season and has looked dominant doing so. Dylan Westbrook is the most recent winner with the series after his victory last Saturday night at South Buxton Raceway. It was the Oakland, Ont. teenager’s first career 360 Sprint Car win. Westbrook enters Saturday’s race as the series point leader.
The Vanderlaan Building Products Pro Late Models point standings got a shake-up following last Saturday’s double points feature. Phil Potts jumped to second in the standings, 45 points behind leader Charlie Sandercock. Brandon Mowat is third, 55 points off the lead, and is followed by Adam Turner and Steve Baldwin.
Andrew Hennessy grew his lead atop the Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modified standings with his fourth win of the season. He holds a 130-point advantage over Kraig Handley and is 150 tallies ahead of Dan Ferguson. Derrick Greig and Doug O’Blenis complete the top-five.
The Brighton Automotive Pro Stock standing are led by Justin Ramsay, who has five wins so far this season. Brandon Murrell claimed second in the championship standings with a third-place finish last weekend. Second-place finisher Wade Purchase is third ahead of Doug Anderson and Jonah Mutton.
The Quinte Septic Stingers resume action this week while the Bill’s Johns Comp 4s take the weekend off. Cousins Brittany and Chantel Golden sit tied at the top of the Junior Stinger standings with just five points ahead of Willy Bulten. Rick Phillips leads the Super Stinger standings over Jorden Pickell and Chris Lammle.
Pit gates will open at 4:00pm for drivers and spectator gates will open at 5:00pm before hot laps at 6:00pm and racing at 7:00pm. Complete event information is available atwww.brightonspeedway.ca.
